More About the Handmade Japanese Chiyogami Paper Cover
Japanese Yuzen or Chiyogami paper dates from the Edo period in Japan and is still produced today using a silkscreen and woodblock process with kozo and sulphite inks. Chiyogami comes from the roots chiyo (thousand generation) and gami (paper) and was traditionally made by farmers during the cold months after fall harvest from ozo, mitsumata, and gampi fibers. Dolls made from Chiyogami paper were once fashionable and for centuries books have been made with this elegant yet strong Japanese craft paper.
